Medications
Medications may help in some cases, including pain relief and hormonal treatments to reduce symptoms. These do not fix the underlying vein problem.
Pelvic vein embolisation
Pelvic vein embolisation is a minimally invasive procedure performed under X-ray guidance. A small tube, called a catheter, is inserted into the faulty vein. The abnormal veins are confirmed and then sealed using coils, medical glue or a sclerosant (an irritant injected into the faulty veins).
Blood is redirected into healthy veins.
